Starting here as well, can't tell yet if upsized, still just 1 shoot not tall enough to tell yet, hope you toss out the 2 inchers!

Fargesia Murielae got completely nuts. It was 5 liter plant (1,3 US gallon) when bought in 2011 and now...

Moso seedling stopped growing shoots in size, but it started to put out as many as it can. Mornings got cooler but we should see a lot of sun which hopefully means it will continue with it's growth. Shoots that are not green whips from last year and those that don't seem to be mature as the largest one - are red. Here's the photo of one of the red shoots that are still in albino form, most likely due to no light under the soil. I'm not sure where it got the red color.

Red and yellow shoot

Less yellow more green with red slug

And more whip shoots, red shoots, greenish shoots, yellow shoots. It must be in a phase where it doesn't really know how to behave

Moso shoot today. Even though the whole plant is brown yet again from winter looks like another upsized shoot. Pics soon.

Might want to try a different Moso source.. I got one from a nursery and that happened to it the first winter or two. I had two that I bought on ebay planted right next to it and they were completely green through the winter. I thought the one from the nursery would be better but the ebay ones are doing awesome.

Bissetii started shooting today. Nothing dramatic, yet.

But, the spectabilis is dramatic. From two #3 plants planted last spring, there are at least 30 shoots, many of them nicely upsized.

Pictures later.

I finally have something to show from my aureosulcata spectabilis which is showing up much earlier than I expected. It doesn't look like it will gain much size, but it's still too early to tell.

It's pretty easy to tell form the whip shoots when they start becoming active.

Here's the dulcis which is putting out 1 little shoot a week ahead of schedule despite the cooler start.

I have fargesia rufas planted in a few different locations and everything seems to be upsizing at least a bit except for the mother plant.

Afternoon spent digging wandering P.a. Aureocaulis rhizomes. It should be an upsize year.....

I bought two #3 spectabili (?) last march and each produced about 3 shoots, which were slighter larger than the parent. This year these two plants have produced more than 50 shoots (I already culled about 15 of them because they were too close to our garden path). Most of the shoots are decent upsizes and some are dramatic upsizes.

I attached some pictures.

Alata, Bissetii and Rubromarginata all started shooting today. The Alata and the Bissetii are good size have not noticed an upsize but equal. The Rubromarginata shoot looks tiny I am hoping for very large culms honestly any thing taller than the deer can reach will be great. The deer once again have this one ate almost to completely to the ground. I will fence it for next winter.
