In Europe, at least in this parts (Croatia) is very difficult to get some live plant or rhizomes of big clumping species like dendros and bambusa.
In these few years i think i send over 100 emails to different nurseries in USA and Australia and they all reject me for shipping in europe or shipping costs are riddicuolosly high.
Finally find one guy in Florida that who is opening nursery and have will to send different bamboo species. Just recived from him dendro asper, dendro minor, bambusa chungii and bambusa vulgaris wamin-giant bb...so here is his link on ebay for all those that have same problems in life like me he told me that there are lots of other species like lako..t olivieri...and others..

Congratulations, now your gardens will become even more beautiful! I wonder if he also might be willing to dip those in a root hydration product? When I brought plants back from Jos I also brought a bag of some product, it is easy to mix with water and makes a gel that clings to the roots. It was not expensive and the roots remained moist for transport.

Re: big clumping bamboo species
I've never seen one with variegated leaves, this will be interesting to see develop.
Mine was mailed to me in a small box less than one year ago, now looks like this more than 3m tall.

The most interesting thing about this discussion for me is learning that some parts of Croatia have a 9A/B climate!

hi Alan..yea you have even 9b on some islands like Vis and Palagruza..where temps dont fall below 27F..and south part of country around Dubrovnik in rare ocassions(10yrs) 25F for one ore two nights...my garden saw every winter 27-25F for few nights..and in 5-10yrs maybe 23F for one night...dendro giganteus that i planted few years ago burn to the ground last winter but its nicely recovered..others(more hardy) like oldhami, balcooa, asper, latiflorus didnt have any problems, just some minor leaf loosing.......
