My son dug this up while updating a landscape job and gave it to me. I thought it might be some sort of swamp weed since I have seen similiar in the low areas close to home. So, I stuck it, pot and all, in a ditch to see if it was a flower or a weed. The plant surprised me with an orchid like flower a couple of weeks ago. Any ideas of what this is? The stalks are about 3 feet tall and it seems to like moist areas.

Thanks Brad, I did a search on White Ginger Plants and that is exactly what it looks like. I'll give it a whiff when I go out and feed the horses. Now I'm glad I didn't throw it out.

My smeller doesn't work real good but I did get a little sweet smell. Ginger it is. I guess I'll have to read up on the best location to plant it. Thanks again.
