I am now in full training mode for the MS150, so maybe I'll make the trek down with Sid again and go on the bike ride. Sid is my training buddy... I pull him behind me in a trailer.

RE: Harlingen Jalape?o Hundred Bicycle Ride
I used to do those rides and the one at South Padre Island about 10 years ago. The old body is a little out of shape for that now. I am trying to start walking 3 miles or so once or twice a week to start getting back in shape. Once you pass 50, it gets harder. They sure are fun... you just have to make sure you get plenty of water and be ready for some "not so fun" times when you ride into the wind.
The winds can be brutal at times. We used to have the best times riding to the Sarita checkpoint with the winds behind us and tell people about our big rides. Then we would get someone to pick us up for the ride back.
Also did a number of rides into Mexico on bicycle. That was fun. Mountain bikes are better for that. In the mountains near Saltillo, Mexico... we used to go mountain bike riding up near the snow in the middle of summer. Cool...
