Barely visible flowers right of center - couldn't get any closer due to steep terrain, multiple branches at the node, blue blush from heavy powder, lots of thin lance shaped leaves

Looks like a dead culm, but I'll take your word for the flowers. I don't see any other branches flowering, so probably an isolated issue.needmore wrote:Barely visible flowers right of center - couldn't get any closer due to steep terrain, multiple branches at the node, blue blush from heavy powder, lots of thin lance shaped leaves

RE: Flowering Multiplex, Himalayacalamus, Drepano????
It has been flowering for several months, a few culms at a time. The dead looking one still has fresh green coloration around the flowering parts that you can't see here - does Multiplex have multiple branches that encircle the culm, and a heavy powder at sheath fall?

I wouldn't call this encircling--Pic 1needmore wrote:It has been flowering for several months, a few culms at a time. Multiplex flower--pic. 2
I'm not sure about the heavy powder at sheath fall. Don't remember that being one of the outstanding features of the Multiplex clan.

I double checked and encircling is inaccurate, it is almost exactly a half circle of branches around the culm.

Also B. multiplexes have a rough feel when you run your thumb and index finger up and down the culm.needmore wrote:It has been flowering for several months, a few culms at a time.
