timor black and Dendrocalamus minor bamboo hardiness
I want to grow some of the above bamboos via seed . Has anyone had any success with these two types in colder climates. I live in an area where it reaches -5 and have some snow in winter months . Am I wasting my time here. Has anyone tried these in colder climates like uk or any other colder climates and had any success please.

Two comments...
1) If you find seeds for these, they will probably NOT actually be either one. Many of the seed you can find are from Dendrocalamus Strictus or related variety.
2) If your temps are lower than 27F, I wouldn't try to grow either one... too cold.
You can grow these in pots... and winter in a greenhouse or garage on days the temps dip below around 32F. Good luck!

Tropical Bamboo has it in a 3 Gallon pot for $45.00. Good price!

You can almost double that price for shipping to California (BTW: Both times I order bamboo from Tropical, the postage was more than the estimate and I owed postage due on delivery).boonut wrote:Tropical Bamboo has it in a 3 Gallon pot for $45.00. Good price!

I can't imagine the shipping cost to U.K.
