What to do with bent Bamboo?

Post by Bradboo »

Yesterday I noticed that my best looking Ph. Henon shoot was bent and damaged at the top as we have had some heavy winds. The stalk is creased and bent like an elbow. This shoot is about 7' tall and the branches are just about to fan out. Should I top it off where it is bent, or let nature take its course??? Pictures not the the best but you get the idea.[img][/img]

I had a culm do that one year, but it was folded all the way over, not just bent like yours. That top part died... or maybe I removed it. You could try splinting it up so it stays straight, otherwise I'd probably just leave it and see what happens.
