This is a genus of relatively hardy, high altitude bamboos that were previously assigned to Yushania, Thamnocalamus and Fargesia. Borinda is divided into two groups: the larger, more evergreen species and the smaller, more deciduous species from higher elevations in the wild. These bamboos can be found across chain of high mountain ranges from western Nepal and Tibet to the Yunnan province of China.

There seems to be quite a few 'grossa' forms, Keith Rushford, whilst giving each a collection number also subdivided them in groups- a-b-c-d-c2-c3-g, your pic's come form group c3, SE Tibet-Showa La. It's gonna be interesting to see which one wins out and is the most 'garden Worthy' as there's too manyto choose from at the mo
