Last Sept I planted some vivax that had been in pots about a year and a half in a spot that sometimes floods, like right now they have been under about 4/5 inches of water for one week, and it may rain again soon. This is the first time in a few years the water reached where they are but I guess they will be under a few inches of water a few weeks at a time ,a few times a year.
My question is how long is too long?thanks for any responses.rgds Kaylen

RE: Bamboo & Flooding
I'm pretty low lying here and the soil in places floods every year, the Phyllostachys don't seem to mind much at all although I'm talking only 2/3 weeks with above ground water although the soil is wet through the winter.
The Montain, Fargesia/Borinda/Thamnocalamus etc will not tolerate winter wet- I've lost too many to count to winter wet, their all now planted out in slightly raised beds

Bamboo...Please note... This plant is seriously addictive and you may lose interest in other, less rewarding plants!
