Phyllostachys rubromarginata Update

Planted a truck load of Phyllostachys rubromarginata Last April and now i am seeing some very
impressive culms after all the hard work all of the Bamboo are shooting now will try to get more pictures this weekend
but here is one i took before i left for work there are a total of 12 coming up in this area some are just beginning to break the surface

Looks like you have rubro rhizomes going all over the place in only 1 year. You probably have them running more than 10ft in all directions already from the 1 little division that was planted last spring.

How big was the division when you planted it?

Makes me want to go out and see how my rubro is doing, oh wait, it just snowed 5 inches.

stevelau1911 yes they are everywhere i am also going to be plating some arrow and grey henon around april

dependable we had a very mild winter here if you really want to call it winter

How many culms did the division have? Did you cut the culms before planting?

jpluddite it had only one its in the background in the pic below

Can you post a pic that show us how far the shoots have traveled from the parent?

Seeing how high you shoots are already, you must be in a very warm climate, maybe even the best temperate climate out of anyone in this forum.

I'm guessing regular green moso may have the potential to push the 8-9 inch range if you have decent soil. Henon and vivax may also get to the 6 inch range or so.

I will get some more pictures this weekend but they have spread about 10 to 12 feet from the mother

stevelau1911 yes i would love to get some big Moso and Henon growing
temp topped out at 83 today here is our forcast below
