Controlling Running Bamboo with Herbicides

An alternative to plastic barrier might be compacted path of gravel/road base mix dug in a couple of feet. It would make a good pathway/divider between species in a bamboo garden. The trench material would need to be compacted with plate compactor after each 6-8 in of backfill, much as is done in construction at critical foundation backfills. It would need a trench anyway, so it would not be worth it if you just needed a barrier with no path.
