RE: Hot peppers
The lemon pepper is one I have an interest in, especially since the flavor is supposed to be quite unique.
I have not heard of the variegated cayenne though...Do you have any pics?
Allen, is there any thing you would recommend in regards to growing habs that you have learned over the years?

RE: Hot peppers
Mantis, I would bet your soil's ph is the reason why you have not had much luck with the peppers. I have heard that Texas soil is more alkaline? Peppers like a more acidic soil, and will not grow right if the pH is off. I think a good rule of thumb is to give them a high nitro fert during the initia...

Hot peppers
I am currently growing several types incl. serrano, regular habenaro, chocolate habernaro, black pearl, the fish pepper, cayenne, and soon the new current world record holder for the hottest, the bhut jolokia. I think the best looking of all of them would be the black pearl, with the variagated leav...

RE: Unsure of this tropical timber
Roy, in my limited experience  this is the only one that seems to fit that description. There is a new hotel that Universal put up that has some massive specimens of B. vulgaris. Although this is a common boo, I was impressed by the sizes, and I remember how it had the small leaves. I believe U...

Haven't seen it yet, but if the bamboo is as amazing as it was in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," I'm definitely going. I think the bamboo in this movie is even better than Crouching tiger. Really amazing. Mantis, if you can get a chance it is worth watching, although some of the movie ...

RE: Uses for bambo leaves
Allen, I do know that they do use it for the silica in the leaves. Silica plays an important role in the formation of healthy hair nails, and our bones. Some recent research has shown that supplementing with silica may even be more important than calcium in the prevention of osteoporosis, along with...

RE: The kindest cute of all: bamboo rhizome neck locator
Roy, that is quite a big piece there. Are you expecting large size shoots once it gets established? i have seen a division like that before, and was just wondering what are the benefits from this. Maybe a plant that gets established much faster, and reaches maturity quicker?

"Forbidden Kingdom"
I just saw that new movie the Forbidden kingdom, and it had without a doubt the best forests of bamboo(moso) I have ever seen. Some of the scenes where they are traveling through it and such were just amazing. It certainly beats Crouching Tiger. Unbelievable.

RE: Lako Heaven...
Being that I live pretty close to others, I thought it would be nice to completely line the property with a dense screen. After that, I like the idea of planting clumpers close together until they form like a forest, except leaving a trail that snakes its way through it all. It could either go direc...

Call some local honey producers. They will be more than happy to come out and take care of this for you.
