Wanting to know all about which of the seven to nine forms of F. nitida have flowered, and which have not, yet, should my posting be to the BmBu Identification Forum?

Dear Bill,
Now, in March, has the ice melted?

RE: Sasa palmata 'nebulosa'

So OK, maybe the S. cernua really is, and is not just mislabled; maybe the only apparent difference between S. palmata nebulosa and S. cernua is the lack of discolorations on the culm, and a size disparity proportional to the containers; but whop the hay, Pseudosasa japonica grows side by side with ...

RE: Sasa palmata 'nebulosa'

I purchased, at the ABS\PNWC auction in May, 2000, a 1glncn of Sasa cernua (Ha! research THAT one) which has grown up to be the non-nebulosa form of S. palmata. Really. For 5 dollars.

RE: The scent of Fargesia

'Twas a decade ago that at the Seattle Flower Show the PNW/ABS had a demo of the "Incense Bamboo", then Ph. congesta but now Ph. atrovaginata. THAT was the odor of my grandmother's Mah Jong set, the tiles of which were ivory laminated onto bamboo. Hadn't ever thought the wonderful scent wa...

RE: New Thread/Old Item Mystery Boo (video)

I'd suggest going back to the CommunityGarden, finding the largest superfluous culm, cutting it off, and looking for the square-ish cross-section, typical of Chimono. quad.

An old Japanese proverb translates: ?You can work in dirt but lead a clean life?.
