RE: Can anyone see my info...

Hi Mantis, That's pretty nifty for when you want local conditions at your very own address! The wind direction seems to be all over the place (ie North, than SW, than E) Is that correct? To much dinero for me at this point (built my house this year), but maybe a little later after all the bamboo tha...

RE: Good News, Bad News

foxd, I checked when I went home, and I am not sure this is the same tree. Did the one next to you change from Darker green leaves, to Yellow leaves during the fall (which is the case on the tree here)? I don't recall seeing the flowers or seeds from April to Julyish, but then again I was so busy wi...

RE: Vinyl Tree Tag labels?

I think I'll look this route. I might try the black on white version of the TZ labels that you champion, as that will allow me to read anything I want to put on the black nursery containers that seem to get moved around all the time! FWIW, at AM Leonard, I saw some vinyl tree tags that you could pri...

RE: Good News, Bad News

Heh, I saw another post of yours (bamboo trellis) and figured it out. I thought that was just your name for the tree (although I also like its other common name: "Stink Tree"). The funny thing is, seeing that picture might have helped me identify a tree on the driveway by me that I had no ...

RE: Vinyl Tree Tag labels?

Heh, yeah the 1000 Tree Tags would probably last me all of my 9 lifetimes, and the shipping is almost as much as the labels themselves it seems! needmore, thanks for the AM Leonard tip, they had even bigger tree tags then the ones I had found. I probably will order the 1" tags from them. foxd, ...

RE: Good News, Bad News

Hi foxd,

I may have missed the original post or story here, do you have any pictures of this "Tree of Heaven", which has now turned to "Spawn of Diablo", heh.

Vinyl Tree Tag labels?

I don't know if this is the proper forum, but it is closest I could guess at. I was wondering if anyone knows of a place online where one could by some of those vinyl tree tag labels (where you can write on them, and attach by looping one end around a branch and through a hole in the tag, and pull t...

RE: Game On!

I've bid on a few, and took your advice on those two in your last post needmore. The websites I've found say I'm around Zone 6B, though one of the local nurseries says were 5 or so. Not so sure I agree with that, as we don't get much below 15-20F here lately during the winters it seems. 20 years ago...

RE: Best way to amend clay soil????

Cool, sounds like the recomposting over time will break down the clay, so I guess I did read that correctly! I am definitely adding some of the red/brown clay back into the composted soil I am bringing in, as we get a TON of wind here in the Columbia River Gorge (windsurfer central!). I have some ta...

Best way to amend clay soil????

Greetings, question from a recently converted booholic here (took a chance trip to the PNW Chapter of ABS auction in July 2007 and little did I know how much I would enjoy getting into this). It's a little late in the year as we are getting pretty rainy, but I am asking now in order to prepare for n...

RE: Bamboo seeds in ebay? has any one tired them?

Yikes on the federal law part, but to be honest I don't remember if they were shipped from Germany or somewhere in the US now that I think of it (I'm not trying to suggest one way or the other).

BTW, is it illegal for seeds in general, or bamboo seeds only?

RE: Bamboo seeds in ebay? has any one tired them?

Hi wfoster (and everyone else, as this is my first post here!) For what it is worth, I have purchased 100 Phyllostacys Pubescens (aka Moso) seeds from exotic-plants-de on Ebay, and received them very promptly (ie I think it was 7 days after I paid for them). Also the seeds were large and looked exac...
