I have the tip of a bamboo seedling emerging from a peat pellet I planted a couple of heteroclada seeds in. It's probably heteroclada, though it could be MOSO, since the same peat pellet had MOSO seeds planted in it a year ago, that never germinated.

Not that I would ever advocate the illegal importation of bamboo seeds into the US :wink: but Chiltern Seeds in England will ship heteroclada seeds to the US.

That's an interesting twist on how we usually interpret bamboo flowering: viz., as the death of the plant; when in fact it means the opposite: the survival of the species. Of course to survive, bamboo needs an environment to flower where its seeds won't drop onto barren concrete or asphalt. :?
