bamabamboo- Most of our zoos rotate different species of bamboo for their pandas. they usually grow a lot of it in the zoo, however since they constantly need a fresh supply, they often get it from random growers in close proximity to the zoo. They had a special on the Nightly News about 3 months ag...

RE: Recent PICS from Camden, AL.
Im so envious, Ive been obsessed with bamboo for years, and still have yet to walk through a grove.
Great pics. You can set up your albums on Photobucket so we can view them. That way you dont have to post each picture link on here.

RE: Identifying Aborted Shoots
From what I have heard, if the culms are at "full height" and its a tropical species such as Textilis, it is common for the culm to hold on to their sheaths. It branches the following year. (?) Also, after all that growing they might just be taking a breather.

David, there is no need to brag about how much bamboo you have over anyone else. I am not insulting the new member, nor anything else. I am simply seeking knowledge. Am I to apologize to an individual who insults other members? Please, I am probably twice as young as anyone on this site...so I am wi...

Thanks Boo Nut. I'll keep an eye out for abby-normal long branches. At the rate it is growing, I wouldnt be surprised if a unnoticed shoot takes out one of the greenhouse window panes.
I would laugh, because it is not my greenhouse, and promptly take pictures for this website

Cathariostachys madagascariensis
I have a best friend who just returned from Madagascar. The Greater Bamboo Lemur (Prolemur simus) eats 95% bamboo in its diet. Cathariostachys madagascariensis is all it eats. Does anyone know anything about this species? It is one of the, what, 7 native species on the island nation? Anyway, looks l...
