RE: Bamboo Fiber
foxd I look forward to anything you might turn up. I am aware of a process similar to that used to produce lyocell from wood cellulose. It can be modified to use bamboo cellulose instead. This lyocell processing is substantially healthier and more eco-friendly because N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide is s...

Re: RE: Embedding Flash Video Content
It was the video stream ads on Gardenweb that led me to this site, back in the early days when there were not too many (any) of us posting. Now it is the best bamboo forum on the web so that is quite a change to have seen. These type of ads are annoying and obnoxious.. regardless of your connection...

Re: RE: Embedding Flash Video Content
I have not played with that part of the code yet but I would hope that it would not load the video until the user requests it. I also have not checked if you can turn it off in your profile like you can now for BBCode or Smilies. Bill I believe it is possible to set up the forum software so that us...

Re: RE: Fastest Growing Bamboo
Personally, I'd probably give the nod to Rubro. The Bissetii is slightly larger in height and diameter in the same time but the Rubro may well have cover more real estate , negating any size differences. This year both are approaching 25-28 feet by 1.25+ inch diameter. They both string together man...

RE: Embedding Flash Video Content
Bill, I have tinkered with php but never written a mod.. so I salute you. :salute: needmore >>> When I replied to http://bambooweb.info/bb/viewtopic.php?t=2140 I noticed that I was unable to embed a flash video as is possible elsewhere, but instead had to rely on a link to the video's page at YouTub...

RE: Bamboo Fiber
Thank you for posting these. Very interesting reading. This is exactly the kind of information I have been looking for. The second post reinforces an article I read towards the end of 2007 detailing the rather anti-green processes for manufacturing a rayon type fabric from bamboo. Theoretically it i...

RE: Dendrocalamus giganteus vs Dendrocalamus sinicus: Larges
I have been doing similar research myself. All the conflicting information can be frustrating. At least it sounds like you are putting your time to good use. One site I found a few weeks ago claims D. Giganteus has the largest diameter culms of all known bamboo. Here is the link: http://www.endanger...

RE: Fastest Growing Bamboo
Hey needmore, thanks for the input.
Good to know. I wish there was a way to add these to the poll. There have been a few great suggestions since I started this thread!
If grown within equal sized areas how would you say they compare on dry weight?? Measurable difference?

RE: Fastest Growing Bamboo
Thank you for the feedback BambooBrother2. Based on the info you have provided, it sounds as if Phy. nigra is a better choice than Phy. aurea. If I understand you correctly; while the Phy. aurea may establish itself more quickly the Phy. nigra can quickly outpace it once it becomes established itsel...
