Re: Is everyone’s Phyllostachys Nigra Flowering?
Hi everyone, been quite a while for me to login and post. My nigra is flowering. It almost looks like some bud. for people that smoke. I took some pics but I forget and if I can remember it wasn't easy to post pics or I forgot how to. anyway, I am hoping I can plant some of the seeds. Thanks Kurt

Hey David, I noticed the culms were smooth to the touch, not that sandpaper feel hence I was ruling out aureosulcata 'Alta'.....Yellow Groove is fairly common around by me....at first that is what i thought....some variety of that. Atrovaginata?? Hmmm...I think I will have to stop and take another l...

RE: Different size shoots?
Almost an inch....lol....Seriously....I'm guessing it is due to the amount of rhizome ball that you got with buds. for example. I had dug two divisions of yg a couple of years back. one was about 18 inches around with a nice culm. the other 18 inches too, actually had smaller culms but broke in two....

Even over by me which is a z6...It appears that Yellow groove and nuda are most common. i have been trying afew diff. ones to see how they fair. It appears that i have a few "perennial types" but the two above seem to be working best for me. I think if the others get more established, i su...
