Simofuri I may be able t...

Re: Does anyone know a good source to get a bamboo slammer?
hey Alan!
definitely the slammer. I've hammered through some pretty good size rhizome with mine, and tried to pry out some divisons that were just too darn big. it's a beast of a tool for sure, and it'll build some really great muscle while you use it, lol!

Re: Does anyone know a good source to get a bamboo slammer?
hey all.... I've been mia, but was browsing tonight, and saw this thread, so wanted to put my input in on mid-atlantics bamboo shovel/slammer. I've had mine 3 or 4 years now, and have dug thousands of divisions with it. I finally broke it this year. the weld that joins the handle with the shovel bla...

Re: To darn early.. shoots in December
We have had a very warm fall so far, with only a couple light frosts- my bananas all look great! I have noticed that several boos have late shoots. One of them, richard haubrich, needs to keep them going just a bit longer, and they will be ok for the winter.

Re: How to limit Oldhamii footprint
A trench should work just fine for a clumping boo like that. A now non active member posted two or three years ago that he uses the square cement pavers around his boos to keep them from crossing boundaries.... I'm on a phone, so I can't search for a link for you, perhaps someone else has it handy, ...

It's on the shaded side of the grove, how about on your Harbin? I wonder if there could be a fungus or something causing it?

Re: Sinobambusa tootsik 'Albostriata' hardiness
My toots' both died completely at 10f.... One was potted, one in the ground. The ground plant was a 5gal, but that was it's first winter in the ground, and it was one of the hardest we have had in decades. I'm going to try that one again... Tallgrass picked one up for me, I just have to get it
