Re: Does anyone know a good source to get a bamboo slammer?
Have you tried a 72" digging bar? I sharpen the blade end on the grinder and it works well in tight spots. If I have the room a corded reciprocating saw is the easiest way to make divisions. I use the bar for leverage to lift the clump out after cutting around the canes I want to remove with th...

Re: Bananas for bamboo
I have several varieties that I'd trade for a Basjoo. I have Orinoco, ice cream, an unknown from Thailand possibly Namwah, praying hands and Dasycarpa (Velutina). http://www.bananas.org/wiki/Musa_Orinoco http://www.bananas.org/wiki/Musa_Ice_Cream_%28Blue_Java%29 http://www.bananas.org/wiki/Musa_Namw...

I can get you divisions of Bambusa ventricosa 'Kimmei' and Bambusa multiplex 'Alphonse Karr'. They both do very well here.

Re: How to limit Oldhamii footprint
A trench should work just fine for a clumping boo like that. A now non active member posted two or three years ago that he uses the square cement pavers around his boos to keep them from crossing boundaries.... I'm on a phone, so I can't search for a link for you, perhaps someone else has it handy,...

I just planted out B. oldhamii and B. chungii today.
Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vaaj3tvJiZg
I have several other banana varieties and some elephant ears that need to go out.
I will make some room for B. emeiensis 'Viridiflavus' when I get my hands on one...

If you are interested in divisions, I always have some extra B. ventricosa 'kimmei' and B. multiplex 'Alphonse Karr'. Both do well in the Houston area.

Re: Planted some bamboo out
Thought I'd post an update since they have been planted for almost one year. They took some damage last winter, but each one has a decent sized shoot coming up. I think next year I will plant my B. lako and some others out. http://homepage.mac.com/arachnotron/.pictures/bamboo/bamboo921_01.jpg http:/...

Re: B. ventricosa 'kimmei' Buddah's Belly for trade
The base of the main culm is ~1.3" diameter and the side shoot is 4' tall. Runner or clumper doesn't really matter to me. Do you have a Phyllostachys nigra 'Hale' to trade?
