Re: How are Phyllostachys prominens & P shanghai 3 sizing u
S3 - it's not a big grower here, pretty much keeping up with the bambusoides. It's not in the same league as Vivax/parvi/iridescens etc Would Atrovaginata be included in that league, Markj? How does it measure up? Thats a tough one for me as mine is planted in an out of the way spot with competitio...

Re: New leafs on old culms yellow help needed please
out of all the bamboos I grow Parvifolia is the greediest bar none and if it's not well fed it goes yellow pretty quick. It probably gets double the feed of any equivalent plant - it really is a seriously hungry plant. A rich soil means nothing to this plant it'll deplete that in a few weeks when it...

Re: Wanted P. Edulis, F.Fungosa. UK.
FWIW- All my edulis forms died in winter 09/10- and I can't say they were exactly thriving at the time either so I haven't bothered replacing them. And as far as I know a lot of the small seed raised Fungosa plants seem a tad tender when small as well so if your gonna plant one of these out might be...

Re: Fargesia dracocephala
After reading about 'White Dragon'- I've just remembered that I planted one out a few years ago, gawd knows what happened to it but I haven't seen it for a good few years :? Will have to have a good search around tomorrow to see if theirs anything left - although I'm not exactly sure where I planted...

Also keeping the grove clean, not letting any rotten canes decompose on the soil and cutting out half dead stuff and burning the lot.

Re: Fungus?? Groves dying?
Fungus sucks big time, been battling one for the last ten years
Tried a stack of stuuf over the years but the only thing that really seems to help is liming the soil and copper sulphate soil drench.
Hope you get it under control.

Re: Think my Phyllostachys Iridescens is going to seed
The plant is very small which won't help but even if it does pull through you've got a few years of looking at a almost dead plant  My patience for this has dwindled away to almost nothing, so anything here going full flower mode is cut down pretty quick ( by that I mean a year or two  ...

Re: Think my Phyllostachys Iridescens is going to seed
Hi- I'd put money on it being incorrectly labled, the true plant is actually hard to find here
If theirs any new shoots popping up nows the time to check.
