generally its because the plant is more acclimated to the conditions. I have found the climate close enough however even know it is colder here the freeze periods are the same.

Yeah my bamboo garden stuff has done well and everything I brought out here has as well. I am more focused on clumpers now since I have a yard but we hope to buy land soon. I still have most mine in containers

Bamboo Garden Nursery in Oregon has those generally. We also moved to Idaho. In the summer there is a place in Horseshoe Bend called Idaho Bamboo that may have it as well.

you gave me a chino Murakamiansus and another one we thought may be same and white stripe . also both forms of sasaella masamuneana .needmore wrote:I guess another possibility is that it is not a true bamboo? The long thin leaves are a bit unusual, Jason I think I gave you one that looked like this a bit?

I think anything short and variegated is called Himalayan variegated in Northern California . That was my experience from backyard gardener haha

I thought they where all flowering but looks exactly like the tsuboi Buschnells had a few years back which I never bought because at the time everyone's where starting to flower.

mine would do this at my last house. I just assumed it was winter look. Cold and damp. in the spring the new leaves would push green and nice

Your Climate is probably similar to mine in South West Idaho. We average about 13.5 inches at my place but Treasure Valley in General gets 10-13 on average. If you have shade many of the hardier Fargesia are doing well for me and I had a lot of potted Phyllostachys last year that did well but being ...

Hi Brad, mine at my last place would push new leaves in the spring , highly variegated but would dull out to a light green by July with hardly any variegated leaves . Plant always looked off after that point. Even under good shade. I do miss my bambusoides varieties though.

this was very common on many of my plants I had in Placerville during the peak of summer. As the plants matured it happened less and less . Just make sure they have enough water and younger plants especially need a good layer of mulch .

I have seen this on oldhamii but eventually all the leaves brown up and the shoot dies from what I have seen
