Thanks for the advice I will move them under the big oak tree in the yard that's almost always shady except for early morning and late evening. Do you think I will be able to grow back the roots all I have on the tree is about a 2 foot long tap root and only 3 very small feeder roots?

Calling anyone who knows anything about bracken ferns

For the past 3 years I have been trying to transplant bracken ferns from rhizome divisions but each and every time I tried it was unsuccessful and I have no idea why. I have an area by the side of my house I have specially prepared for this running fern but I can't seem to grow them any ideas why?

Maple tar spots? You don't think it will spread to any of my 2 Japanese maples do you because I took this picture in the woods near the side of my yard the Japanese maples are only about 20 feet from these woods and about probably 35 feet from this infected maple.

Thanks for the help I will check out some of those threads on barrier strategies. Edit: Does anyone happen to know if there's a store or website that may have a cheep rhizome barrier? I was looking around but all i can find online are huge spools of rhizome barriers that range between 50-200 dollars...
