Phyllostachys aureosulcata 'Lama Temple' ??
Does anyone have experience with Phyllostachys aureosulcata 'Lama Temple'? I'm curious how different it really is from the other P. aureosulcata varieties, especially its height.

Are P. Japonica rhizomes unusually deep?
Hello. I'm considering growing Japonica behind a barrier, but a bamboo retailed suggested against it because Japonica rhizomes are deeper than other bamboo and will run under the usual 2.5-3 foot deep bamboo barriers. Have ya'll had similar experiences with Japonica?

Bamboo sellers in PA, MD, NY, WV, or NJ?
Hi again. The bamboo source list seems to be a bit out of date. Can ya'll recommend places or people in PA, MD, NJ, WV, or NY where I can buy bamboo? Cape May (in NJ) seems like a good place, but they are wholesale, and the other places I've found are in VA or NC.

Bamboo behind a 360-degree barrier
Howdy folks. I've maintained bamboo behind a 3-sided barrier, but in my new location, I'll need to use a 360 barrier. Does anyone have experience with using a 360-degree barrier? I'm worried about the barrier breaking and/or the bamboo getting rhizome bound. The space is about 16 feet long and 4 fee...

Re: My bissetii are flowering
Dependable was correct. Although my bissetti flowered, it wasn't an extinction event. A significant chunk of them died, but at least as many survived.

So, do clumpers exhibit 'male pattern baldness', i.e., do they die in the middle and have new growth only along the perimeter? Does is look odd?
Do you have any pictures of your denuda? Do you remember how long it has taken to get to its current size?

How long do you expect F Robusta to get to about 10 feet tall in zone 6b/7a? Also, do the inner culms of a clumper die and leave the plant dead in the middle?

Re: Recommendation for 8-12 ft bamboo for screen in zone 7b
Thanks for the responses, comrades. The bissetii in my last house (down the street from my current) was very aggressive, grew to between 20 and 30 feet tall and out competed harbin inversa, nigra, and yellow groove. The Japonica did okay but died to the ground one winter when we got down to -5; it c...

Recommendation for 8-12 ft bamboo for screen in zone 7b
Howdy folks. I have a nice grove of bamboo behind a 3-sided barrier at my current house, but we're moving to a new place that has a smaller yard. So, I need a bamboo in garden zone 7b (near Hershey, PA) that is about 8-12 feet tall (else it will shade the garden). Ideally, the bamboo would be fairly...

Will plowing prevent bamboo from entering a farmers field?
Hi guys. I'm wondering if the usual plowing that a farmer does will prevent bamboo on an adjacent property from entering his field. Here's a bit more more detail. The link below shows a square lot identified by a red place marker. Its western edge has a tree line that runs north-south and that conce...
