Ive known a few people that have had theirs die here in texas from getting wet, I think they need to be planted on mounds to ensure drainage ,good luck

for de-branching I use a flush-cut saw,one or two pulls from the underside near the culm and its a nice and smooth

that's definitely true on my S fstuosa,,everything else is already branched out but my fastuosa hasn't popped up,,i may have to start checking on it only every other hour,,,

Brad, I have some of the inversa ,origanaly from bamboo sorcery, it would be inrtersting to see how they compare,,,Is the division of Semiarundinaria Yashadake Kimmeii you sent me a few years back from the same grove from wich your inversa appeared?

August/September,,,,If they are not established they may shoot any time ,,or recovering from winter damage some smaller shoots pop up from spring on

Rob, I saw some textilis last weekend that was started by culm cuttings,I was surprised as this is a thin walled species and most reports are its not a good candidate for culm cutting propigation,Oldhamii is a very good candidate and should grow pretty good where you live especialy if you can shelte...
