Fred, if you find yourself at the nursery I'd be curious to learn how shippable the 15 gallon Tham tess and the F rufa are.

The way I read the info, no shipment of 15 gals. I'd consider going up for the wine but will pass for a bamboo visit. As they say, been there, done it. Just dealing with a few nurseries, I'd say there is a currently a glut of bamboo. I'd also say it's a buyers market and I'd play let's make a deal for something that I want. I'd recommend that you check Suncrest Nursery. As a grower, you shd be able to get wholesale deals on a wide variety of species. I might be able to handle a thamno at 7 to 10 gals. Chk Suncrest first. Rgds

I've been wanting to find a nursery that will ship me a large Fargesia nitida, murielae or denudata - these Tham tess would also be of interest, Ned's folks won't ship me a 7 gal which surprises me so I am still looking. These 15 gal prices are attractive but I don't really have a sense of how tall or big a root ball once the soil is washed off. I don't like shipping large plants either so I can relate.

In any case I think huge clumpers are the way to go in my climate if one can get them, but the F rufa will grow fast enough that a smaller one will do, mine are getting some decent size quickly. Will check Suncrest thanks for the tip.

Bamboo Sourcery is calling it quits in November. They have a 50% off sale going on.
One of the premier bamboo nurseries for years,
founded by Gerald Boll and now run by his daughter. Bought some my first plants from them in 1994. rgds

Well yeah, but he does seem to be willing to talk about bamboo, which puts him one up from the automatic spammers that post about viagra.

A local outdoors store sells laminated tonkin cane fly rods for 3k. He buys 6 to 8" diameter dry culms from China and crafts them into fly rods himself or will help people make them (for a price). Rgds

Well I approved the post because he was talking about bamboo, asking advice on where and how to sell bamboo, and in the exchange forum which was talking about a bamboo nursery selling bamboo! He wasn't selling viagra, he did not have a link to some other site just to generate traffic, and he was up front about his intentions. Maybe it should have been another topic in another thread, but it should not have been deleted!!!! If he posts again I will approve it again!

Yes agreed that it is a totally different thing in its own thread, the difference being for me that it does not have to be viewed if it is in its own thread. To me the objectionable part is to effectively place an ad in the middle of someone else's post, one can not avoid it that way if you are interested in the post - they did the same thing on Bamboo Craft Net forum so it starts to look intentional to me.

They can also place a link to their business on the links page.
