Indosasa sinica?

Post by Eastlandia »

Hey all,

Greetings from Africa. I want to post a few of my friends comments/questions here because the forum members (you) are very good at ID-ing bamboo. Also, it is good information to have here as well. Any thoughts about this bamboo? I noticed that in another thread, bambooweb posted several lists of bamboo and Indosasa sinica was included in a list still in US quarantine.

Anyway, here is a link that has the bamboo that needs an ID. I am guessing it is Indosasa sinica because of "bitter bamboo"! The page is in Thai, and the photos are toward the bottom: http://www.biogang.net/biodiversity_vie ... &id=160248

For other information about Indosasa sinica, here is an interesting case study write-up: http://www.mekonginfo.org/assets/midocs ... ao-pdr.pdf

Anyway, nothing like a few pdf's and strange photos from other countries to get your blood pumping! :D

Greetings Mr Lawrence, good to know you are still lurking! When may I expect you to come up and dig me some of that very large A gigantea from the Ohio and bring it here? How are the plants we put in your dad's place a few years back?
