It was supposed to be Bambusa Lako (Timor Black) but its still to young for me to tell if it really is so I need the help of an expert.

I am distrustful of seeds purchased from Ebay since they very seldom turn out to be what they are claimed. Most bamboo seed bought from Ebay turns out to be either Moso or D. strictus.
In any case, IDing a bamboo while it is still a seedling is very difficult. You are better off getting the species you want from a reputable dealer.

thanks for the reply guys I guess I will just need to wait until it is older to tell.
Re: Is this a Bambusa Lako?
FYI: Apparently Bambusa lako and Gigantochloa atroviolacia use to be lumped together or confused. When I wanted a "black" clumping bamboo, I could not decide, so I bought both.
The Bambusa lako (Timor Black) I have is doing well, but does not have solid black culms seen in pictures.
The Gigantochloa atroviolacia (Tropical Black) is slower growing (probably prefers warmer weather), but has black culms.

Re: Is this a Bambusa Lako?
I have both Timor & Atro growing here as well. My Timor black culms are more dark brown/ almost black. I think they become more shiny black in the shade rather than a sunny position.
