Parting shots

Post by needmore »

Took one last trip to CA last week and snapped a few photos, I hope the new owner appreciates the rare collection and is prepared to battle the Cone X which looks like it will be in the phone lines next year! I'm a bit saddened to be starting over with bamboo for the 3rd time but Hawai'i should produce great results quickly so...

The most expensive bamboo I've ever bought and it displays none of the characteristics for which I paid up - named by the nursery as Bambusa textilis 'Moraensis' - the parent plant has major portions of the culms that are solid white or heavily striped, maybe someday this one too but not yet.

Chungii jumped to 2"+ and 30' in 2 years, produced a dozen new culms so far this year

And one of my favorite non-bamboo plants I've ever grown - Aloe goliath at 8' already

Wow, you planted a fine garden in the place in CA, I remember when you were posting pics of early plantings there. I could imagine it would make one a little wistful, however HI will be an improvement, no doubt.

Thanks, yeah it was essentially a bare lot and in 3 years there are only pathways through it.
