Phyllostachys propinqua 'Beijing' flowering

Post by johnw »

Phyllostachys propinqua 'Beijing' sent up 2 very large culms this past Spring and all culms have just came into full flower. They appear to be quite unlike the healthy & lusty flowers of the Fargesias that have flowered here in the past, maybe I say this prematurely. I doubt very much they will eventually set seed, plentiful as they may be. The clone can be traced way, way back to Brad's 'Beijing'.
