Re: Boo-Shoots for 2015
Spotted a couple of Oldamii shoots, a sunburst shoot and looks like unfinished Bambusa Chungii and Fasca shoots are continuing their growth from last year. It's been unusually warm here the last week or so.
Today we are over 4 degrees warmer than the record high. 76 vs 72. It's actually a record high for the whole month of January.

7.5" rain in the last few days, one of about a dozen Scabrida shoots visibly rising at the moment...

I scoured the bamboos today for shoots and found a bunch so it is a good day for me! My golden bamboos are shooting, one of my yellow groove plantings, my purple bamboo and one black bamboo. No huge upsizing but shoots nonetheless. I do have a bigger expectations for my timber bamboos though! Let the shooting begin.

No pics but Scabrida is finally up up up. Not bad for almost 50deg north. Temps have been 9ish celsius average through the day. Wet here with lots of rain.

My bisetti is putting up his first little shoot of the season as are my F. Rufas which have only been in the ground for about 18 months. Looks like about 15 shoots or so per F. Rufa. Lots of bud elongation too and new foliage coming. Some shots from today...

New bisetti shoot today! Happy with the size considering the planting is pretty well shaded!

Re: Boo-Shoots for 2015
Based on the last 7 years or so of shooting season threads, it seems like the earlier phyllostachys will definitely shoot within the next 2-3 weeks latest for growers across the southeast, and parts of the PNW, but up in the great lakes region where there is 3 or more feet of snow that just keeps getting higher and higher, and no thaws in sight we may expect yet again another exceptionally late spring. That still shouldn't delay shooting until any later than late May for any species.

Re: Boo-Shoots for 2015
We have had a record warm October, January and now February here in the PNW. My plum trees are blooming earlier than ever before here, and my daffodils are blooming now as well. My Green Panda, Gold Stem and Robusta Fargesias are all shooting now. None of the Far. Jiuzhaigou are shooting yet, and they still look really ratty and 3/4 dead.
Spring is really early here in the PNW this year.
