Just a brief follow up on this event last weekend. This was my first visit to the Buu Mon Buddhist Temple and I was very impressed with their bamboo. They have about 30 species of almost all tropical bamboo, many of them too tender for me to grow here in 8b. They list the following:

B. beecheyana
B. chungi
B dolichomerithalla 'Silverstripe'
B. emeiensis viridiflavus
B. lako
B. malingensis
B. multiplex 'Alphonse Karr'
B. multiplex 'Fernleaf'
B. multiplex 'Golden Goddess'
B. mutababilis
B. oldhamii
B. pervariabilis viridistriata
B. textilis glabra
B. textilis kanapaha
B.textilis albostriata
B. textilis gracilis
B. tuldoides
B. tuldoides ventricosa
B. tuldoides ventricosa 'Kimmei'
B. vugaris
B. vugaris 'Wamin'
B. vugaris 'Vittata'
D. asper
D. giganteus
D. minor 'Amoenus'
G. atroviolacia
G. psuedoarundinacea
T. siamensis
In addition, not on their bamboo list, but growing on their grounds were Ph. aurea, trimmed to show off the yellow culms; and a small diameter. but very thick growing unknown green bamboo that appeared also to be a Phyllostachys. There were also a much larger number of water lilies.

The bamboo that impressed me the most was the T. siamensis, perhaps in part because I had not seen this bamboo before. The larger culms were about 2" so it was a good size but perhaps not full grown.
