Source List's AKA's

Post by Roy »

Bill,

I've been seeing some of the changes you have made to the website, and some changes I liked, but didn't know they were ever there. But now I'm a little confused (I know it doesn't take much). The information below comes from the link also below and I presume is from and is part of the Source List.

http://www.bambooweb.info/SSL.php

There are a lot of doubles and one that looks reversed. I took out the ones from the list that looks OK to me. Not familiar with a lot of the bamboos on the list so I'm not sure about all of them being correct.

Thanks that was pulling values from two tables so I think I fixed it.
I also added Sasa hayatae to the list.

Looks like it's fixed now.

When you get a chance, delete the spreadsheet of names image. It's of no use now.

Do you know the origin of the name below? I've never seen a name with a "?" in it and would wonder how one would pronounce "Ca?a"

CHUSQUEA culeou 'Ca?a Prieta'

OH! I see. Like I used to say when I was fluent in Southern American: "canya get ma breeches?"

Exactly!

In this case the ? I bet was intended to be the Spanish character that represents the letter 'n' with the ~ above it.

You mean the character "ñ"? There is a code for it in html: ñ
Southern Indiana.
My Bamboo List.

The legal issues that will arise when the undead walk the earth are legion, and addressing them all is well beyond what could reasonably be accomplished in this brief Essay. Indeed, a complete treatment of the tax issues alone would require several volumes.

Ah yes. Now I do remember seeing it spelled that way. And you though I was just making a "funny".

That would work if this site was just html but the data is stored in a database and then needs to be moved into a word document. It would be nice if all of the programs used the character set but they don't. I found that there is a big problem importing a table from an Excel spreadsheet into Access with the non-alphanumeric characters. Hopefully MS has fixed that with the new version of office but it sucks that you have problems moving data between two MSOffice programs. I might have to look at Open Office and see if it has the functions I need.
