Havaheart traps: Have 3 traps on the property and have trapped 13 squirrels this year. Damage to bamboo, primarily new shoots is down substantially. Used peanut butter to entice the rodents but started seeing peanut butter disappearing without any entrapment. Just saw a bird enter a trap and steal the peanut butter. Have started to use whole peanuts with shells (no salt) and entrapment is back to normal. Rgds

I'm up to 21 squirrels trapped for the year ( and released in the wild). Damage to bamboo and other plants is down 90% over last year. Have used whole peanuts as bait instead of peanut butter to cut cost. The local feed store sells whole peanuts for less than a buck a pound.
