BAMBOO Maintenance

Hello I am new to the forum. My bamboo is growing too fast for me!
I'm sure this has been said many times- thanks for any help/updates.
I am trying to find help/ fellow bamboo lovers in the UPSTATE NY area.
I love my bamboo- I hate to cut it all down! It is much taller than expected.
I am in the process of "pruning" it, and hopefully I can keep/root some to boxes.
This will be the second year that I keep any new shoots from growing.
I do realize the roots are spreading, and that's why I should hire someone too.
Please direct me to a post if the NY area has been discussed.
