Cap and Trade Legislation ~ a New Market for Bamboo????

Post by BamaBamboo »

Cap and Trade is up for a Vote....it has already passed the House but it may hit a snag in the senate....even if it's not successful this time around, IT WILL PASS and BECOME LAW soon enough.....so what does that Mean for us Bamboo Enthusiasts????......We all know Bamboo is at the top of the list for carbon sequestration.....Will this give farmers an Incentive to Grow Bamboo for the Carbon credit Market???......
I'm starting to see an opportunity here....anyone else see this????.....Your Thoughts????

Unless you are a personal friend of someone in the administration, it is unlikely you will benefit from this legislation. Write your congressman.

A good question, but probably too early yet to have a good answer. Bamboo would probably be considered a biomass under the bill, so it would be treated as such. So the more general question is "How does Cap and Trade Legislation treat biomass?"

A starting point:

Southern Indiana.
My Bamboo List.

The legal issues that will arise when the undead walk the earth are legion, and addressing them all is well beyond what could reasonably be accomplished in this brief Essay. Indeed, a complete treatment of the tax issues alone would require several volumes.
