New shoot on Bambusa chungii 'Barbelatta'
The lush short guy in the foreground is Bambusa ventricosa "Kimmei' that has some >1" culms that stay short due to bellying

Thanks Alan, it's hard to believe that we only moved in last October and the only landscaping in place in these photos was the pecan & orange trees plus the rosemary bush. Bamboo and bananas sure fill in quickly but I had been container growing the bamboo for up to 2 years so they were ready to take off.
