Hi all, I planted nine Fargesia Robusta plants in March 2016, two of which were the variety pingwu and came from a general nursery rather than one dedicated to bamboos. If it were mine I would. You want the plant storing energy for next year, not messing around with top growth that won't make it through the winter anyway. Young plants are notorious for this, they do grow out of it though. Any late growth here gets chopped, even biggish stuff 2+" from the late ...

We can plant here all year round, it's a tad harder in the summer as you'd have too water now and then. But planting now is probably the best time, the soil is warm it rains every week and its three months till a 'possible' cold snap' which may last a day or two at most. So the plant will establish ...

At 53º N sunlight or a lack there of will be the greatest issue. Your plant is native to a climate with a much stronger sun angle so I'd expect "clumping bamboo" like behavior and a much slower overall growth rate. Your climate is much more suited to the Fargeisa, Borinda, Yushina, and Ch...
