Re: Ideas for "tagging" your ages on a large grove
I think what might work good easy and fast is an ink stamper like to stamp mail, food packages etc. Just get good water proof ink. That is what I am going to try so far I just need to get the stuff.

Re: A short, thick bamboo in Central PA
Nice pics Zylene, There's a nice grove of black and two others varieties in the front yard of a big house in York on Market street. Next time you're there, you can check it. I am not in York very often but i will check it out for sure next time. I have been wanting for sometime to post on a map all ...

Re: Lime Treatment of Bamboo ?
The most common method is VSD (vertical soak diffusion). Google VSD BAMBOO and you will get information on the topic. I have a PDF I can email to you if you don't find enough info on the subject. This is an interesting subject and easy to find info I like this pdf https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&am...

Re: Where to Buy Timber Bamboo?
I agree with the growth of bamboo from rhizomes it is very slow I have two Viridis and atrovaginata and they have both been in the ground I believe for three shooting seasons and are both tiny twigs and both are surpassed by every bamboo planted before and after them.

Re: Growing larger culms
As mentioned, nice thick soil/compost, less acid soil and water are important. But the places where P aurosulcata (yellowgroove) reaches its max height and culm thickness I have seen are actually in partial shade. Seems to me the plant does not bother investing as much into size vs spreading unless...

Re: The state of Connecticut eyeing bamboo for invasive stat
Lindsay I agree I was in my local Lowes and for the first time ever saw bamboo for sale. It was Bisettii and I was thinking the same thing and looking for an info sheet or something but there was nothing. I said to my wife about how dumb that was and how a unknowlegable customer will buy this and pl...

Re: Signs of life in 2013
Steve it is hard to tell for the pic but the flower in your veggie garden looks like a form of columbine. I have several types here and they are nice but after they flower the form seed pods with thousands of seeds so capture them or they will be everywhere.

It is actually quilted northern ultra soft 3 ply . that extra ply should increase the insulation value by 50%. I really think it will work I kind of hope we get frost just to know.JWH wrote: Only if it's Charmin Extra Soft 2-Ply....sorry couldn't resist.

Re: Major freeze and record lows expected on Monday night
My taller shoots I wraped in toilet paper I think this will help. I also used a large trash can to cover my bananas and five gallon buckets I have about 20 of the to cover many garden plants and some smaller boos. It makes it very easy and quick to protect many plants.

Re: Invasive running bamboo invading my yard!!!
I think the trench filled with sand is a great method and is soo easy to rhizome prune. I use that on boos i really want to stop and cutting rhizomes of others as well as escapees that I see during shooting. If I see shoots near the boarder I drive the shovel in extra just to be sure. Once my boos g...
