looking at the company's website, I found this in the technical specifications section:

Re: About a year
You might as well do a full confession -- you're a Colocasia/Alocasia guy too. 50 types of those?

Re: Is everyone’s Phyllostachys Nigra Flowering?
My advice is not to worry too much. It's discouraging to have a bamboo flower, but I'd much rather have it happen to a new potted plant than one that you've had in the ground for 3-4 years and have it flower just as it's starting to gain a nice size. That happened to me twice (the original species f...

Re: Latest Phyllostachys to shoot?
My Rubro was a little earlier than the virella. Definitely similar in look. Virella is closer to the house so I look at it more.

Latest Phyllostachys to shoot?
For me the latest to shoot is Ph. virella. I'm not sure how typical this year's weather has been as it was warm early, then got cold for several weeks, then warmed up again, but for me Ph. virella only started shooting a little over a week ago (so first week in June). A couple things to point out th...

Re: Bamboo: Pest identification
I've been waiting for a dry day to go take photos, but I have seen the same thing on some of my small groves. Black sooty mold it typical of aphid activity, so I assumed that these clusters were something similar -- some sort of sap-sucking insect that was creating these globs of junk. I first notic...

Re: New website changes
The site no longer remembers me -- I have to login each time I visit. It's not a big problem and is probably related to increased security, but thought I'd mention it in case it's supposed to be working as it did before.

Re: bamboo damage from Feb 2021 polar vortex
So sorry to hear!
Very surprised at some of these, but I suspect that the plantings that fared better -- even if less hardy -- had some wind protection.
Did you have a fairly wet fall and winter before that?

Re: Growing Honeysuckle w/ Bamboo?
I have a strip of "common ground" behind my property that divides me from the houses behind. This originally was a steep grassy slope, but when I moved in in 1991 there was a small row of bush honeysuckle (Lonicera maackii) that were either planted or grew wild (Missouri has a huge problem...

Only Rufa was shooting, and they were only a couple inches tall -- they're fine!
Everything else still shows at least some green and leaf buds are expanding.
