Re: Late shoots

Temps are in the high 70's, much higher than normal and predictions temps will remain above average. New shoots may be triggered by the temps. That would mean I missed a shooting season. What would cause this? Lack of rain?

Re: Late shoots

The shooting of bambusa plants starts in late fall and early winter in my zone. The tops get burned when the temps get in the 20's. Rgds

Re: Nasty rust, or just innocuous scale?

Looks like bamboo mites to me. Last time I had them I sent pictures to 3 bamboo nurseries to confirm and ask for recommendations to reradiate. I'd recommend this method. The mites don't kill they just make the plants ugly. As I recall you are in the South. ABS can help you identify bamboo nurseries ...

Re: New website changes

Any input on whether the Bamboo Photos section will be restored? If not what happens to all the existing photos? Can they be transferred to the ABS site? Rgds Fred

I think Chris Stapleton is in charge of bamboo names for the ABS. His email is chris_stapleton@onetel.com. Rgds

Re: Bamboo: Pest identification

Send photos to bamboo nurseries near you. They are helpful and can best identify the problem and determine what you can do to rid the problem. Rgds

Re: New website changes

Thanks for the info. One flaw in the photo site is the inability to correct errors. I have screwed up a few times but was unable to make a correction.
Thanks for all your work over the years on the bambooweb website. Rgds Fred

New website changes

Just noticed the change in the website. Looks good but looks like the photo entry site has been zapped.

30 minutes of water: daily? 30 minutes for one day for one plant is too much. RGds
