Temps are in the high 70's, much higher than normal and predictions temps will remain above average. New shoots may be triggered by the temps. That would mean I missed a shooting season. What would cause this? Lack of rain?

The shooting of bambusa plants starts in late fall and early winter in my zone. The tops get burned when the temps get in the 20's. Rgds

Late shoots
Madake and Robert Young are just shooting, Normal shooting April thu June. It was a drought year but I've not seen impact like this during other drought years. Rgds

Looks like bamboo mites to me. Last time I had them I sent pictures to 3 bamboo nurseries to confirm and ask for recommendations to reradiate. I'd recommend this method. The mites don't kill they just make the plants ugly. As I recall you are in the South. ABS can help you identify bamboo nurseries ...

Caught plus 20 squirrels in my Havahart trap last year. Released in a forest a few miles away. Damage is way down. Have caught abt 6 this year. Zero damage incurred. Rgds

Send photos to bamboo nurseries near you. They are helpful and can best identify the problem and determine what you can do to rid the problem. Rgds

Thanks for the info. One flaw in the photo site is the inability to correct errors. I have screwed up a few times but was unable to make a correction.
