Yushania maling; for Fargesia
Here's a fine specimen of Yushania maling that I would be pleased to trade for a Fargesia "Nymphenburg" second generation(2G), or F. "Juizhaigou" Nos. 2, 4, or 8 . A thing about this Y. maling is that it is water-hungry here in northern Puget Sound. I can deliver; Puget Soundly.

Re: Sleep, Creep, Leap
Continuing 'Mountainbamboonut's premise ("I know the saying "first year it sleeps, second creeps, and third it leaps" is not a hard and fast rule or a guarantee of any kind.."): The first year it sleeps The second year it creeps The third year it leaps The fourth year you reap or...

Re: Phyllostachys Flowering North America
What 'dependable' said ("There were several stands in area and they all died to ground. No sign of re seeding. The larger groves that were left alone reestablished themselves...") happened here in the Puget Sound area, during the same time frame.

Such is my sob story.
Helpful?
Or was your question ["What's going on?"] to be
all about the BIG picture?

If they were acting like this at the neighbors, I'd be assembling my legal team!

a free and laborious FREE dig
I want to give some bamboo to anyone who would like to come dig it up and haul it away. There is a large amount for the taking. Here is a list of varieties, here, near Mt. Vernon (98274), that are free for the digging: 1. Bashania fargesii 2. Chimonobambusa tumidissinoda 3. Hibanobambusa tranquillan...

Bifurcated bamboo too
Part II This is Phyllo. atrovaginata (PH. compacta), the Inscensed Boo. The split happens at 2m±, but the culm has the duplexed sulcus from the ground up. (50mm @ base, but this is compacta so it narrows quickly. The final pic shows that there will be FOUR branch complements at that node. Peace, Gun...
