B. textilis albostriata flowering in West Central Florida.

Re: enough is enough

Dudley, things aren't any better here in west central Fl either. I've got at least a dozen boo's with crispy leaves. The list is very long on what's toast. Worst looking right now is the G. 'Bali white stripe'. Along with that are Lako, G. Maxima, D. Brandesii, G. apus, G. Sumatra, a 25g potted Barb...

Re: 2009 Boo Shooting Diary

Chances are very slim that it will survive at all through the winter. This plant doesn't like it in my location much. It's been in the ground for close to three years and is only six feet tall W/ 1/4" culm dia. & has never looked healthy.

Well, here they are 5 weeks later & not one shoot has aborted as of today. PICT0048.jpg PICT0049.jpg PICT0050.jpg PICT0051.jpg PICT0051.jpg I don't know if the addition of soil and amendments made the difference or the fact that I watered twice a day for the last 5 weeks. I think the soil + mulc...

Re: 5 Small or 1 Large Tropical Blue

Time to chime in... boolover, I'd have to agree w/ mantis on this one. Chungii is a clumping bamboo as we all know and I have a big clump myself but I think you should know that these culms grow out at some pretty steep angles at times and if you plant 5 clumps close together what you'll end up with...

Re: Spots on culms

I've got lots of that on many different plants. The ones with the spots are in full sun. I agree w/ mantis, it's sunburn.

Re: Opinions Please...

Well thank you sir. I put the stone edging in front to hold the soil in place. I was concerned that it would wash out w/ the next heavy rain.

Re: pine bark mulch

Personally, I don't like pine bark mulch. I put some down around about a half dozen boo's last year and found that when watering, the bark (mostly large chunks) would actually act as an umbrella for the soil and the water would just splash away from what I was trying to water. I removed it all about...
