Re: Phyllostachys nigra variegata

Looks more and more like HB 'Shiroshima'. Thank you for posting photos, it's nice to see how they develop. It will be interesting the following spring as they may start setting first larger shoots. They should look great! Regressing into P. aureosulcata would only be possible if it's chimeric and o...

Re: Phyllostachys nigra variegata

It’s really going to be interesting to see what this turns out to be like. So far I’ve already taken two divisions from my one small plant outside. It’s really been fast to spread around. Producing lots of rhizomes and little whip shoots. One shoot has decided to look like an aureosulcata though.......

Re: Fargesia demissa 'Gerry'

John, I wish it wasn’t so slow to get going for me or else I could divide and propagate. It would be nice to get this one in the Bamboo community here in Canada. Seems like there is only a couple people with it. Raining here LOTS! It was like someone switched a switch and went from drought to flood....

Re: Fargesia demissa 'Gerry'

It helps to know that it can take full sun. I have one of mine in deep shade and the other is in the greenhouse. I’ll probably find a brighter spot for it.

Thanks for the info.

Re: Fargesia demissa 'Gerry'

Great photos and thanks for sharing. I have a couple here now but man they are slow. Not many people here in Canada to give me their feeback either on how they have been growing it. Only one other friend I know has it. What growing conditions has yours been in ? Sun or shade? What soil? Kailey

Re: Moso colour culms and upsize

Nicholas, Japan names their’s nabeshimana and China uses tao kiang ( synonyms ) . I believe they are the same when discussed. Nabeshimana is said to be green with yellow stripes and the opposite for tao kiang hah. It’s kind of like asking if a zebra is black or white stripes I guess. Both show chara...

Re: Moso colour culms and upsize

Hi It could be a sport off your bicolor. This does happen. My friend has a moso doing the same thing this year with multiple variety in the grove. I grow gold stripe and I also am blessed to grow tao kiang aka nabeshimana. The nabeshimana is a named seedling with amazing stripes. No other Bamboo com...
