Welcome to our community!
My name is anonymous and I have an addiction to bamboo. This hobby is amazing. With each growing year I look forward to seeing my beautiful bamboo culms soar into the air.

Re: Watering
2 day watering? Wow that's some serious love. I tend to water early in the morning/sundown to minimize evaporation. Back in the day I used use lay a hose on the ground and let the water run downhill but it would just pool up in certain areas while leaving other areas effectively dry. Then I started ...

Re: Reading Bamboo Leaves and Dead Canes
The culm is a goner. Generally leaf curling does indicate a lack of watering but it's not always true. Like my Moso will leaf curl no matter how much water I feed it if it's painfully hot outside. Perhaps a survival mechanism during stressful events? Not sure about the browning tips. I have a nigra ...

Re: growing Moso in the USA
Man I've had my share of dead Moso plantings. I hate to think back to those days because it wasn't pretty seeing them all die a very painfully slow death. The worst of them were the ones that made it out of Aug only to roll over and die for no reason what so ever. Seems like once they are on a decli...

I'd say it isn't Henon going by those new shoots.

Re: Update on bamboo
When I first started this project a few years ago, I dug up a large culm that was 50' tall and 3" diameter. The root ball was approximately 200to 250lbs and was about 3' diameter. I'm hoping that in the next 5 years I start seeing some new growth close to that size. How many years exactly? :al...

Re: P Aurea clumps mostly dead
Not much you can do right now besides playing the waiting game.
If it does not shoot this spring or early summer I'd say your chances of new shoots next spring is next to none, at least coming from my experience.
You will probably know soon enough if you see the culms turn pale.

In a place like the UK I bet you can move them anytime of the year. Obliviously you want to try and avoid digging them up in the middle of shooting season.
