Re: Multiplex Golden Goddess in all day Texas sun - doomed?
If they have good drainage...full sun is ok heat no problem watering will be your main adversary. Your timeing will change as summer progesses. And they will quickly out grow the pots. MarCat Thanks for the response MarCat! When I bought those pots I thought I'd likely need to divide and re-pot eve...

Re: Multiplex Golden Goddess in all day Texas sun - doomed?
till now how often did you water them ? at the moement could they be soffering because too much water in the pot and too much sun ? a + ph I've been watering them about twice a week. I stick my finger in the soil to make sure it's not moist before I water again. I also try to pay close attention to...

Multiplex Golden Goddess in all day Texas sun - doomed?
I recently purchased some multiplex golden goddess for our 2nd story balcony that gets blasted by full sun and wind all day. Should they survive a spot like this in my central Texas climate where 100F is common in the summer? I'm a little concerned - they already look they have some sun stress and I...

Re: Shoot pruning clumping bamboo - how many shoots can I pr
Funny how my first post on these boards is about getting more bamboo! Anyway, if you are interested in division of that clump and would be willing to ship some, I would love to donate a transplant fee and pay the shipping costs. I have been looking for a Gracillis source closer to me than Florida, ...

Re: Shoot pruning clumping bamboo - how many shoots can I pr
The culms do age. Think of it like a hydrangea, you would not want to keep it small by cutting of most of the new growth and leaving the old. You can thin older culms , but the diameter of base will increase some. A lot of people divide their clumpers much as you would a hosta or daylily. Then you ...

Shoot pruning clumping bamboo - how many shoots can I prune?
If I have a mature clumping bamboo and I'm happy with its current size, can I simply allow 1-2 new culms to come up and prune all the rest? I don't want the clump to get super dense and out of control. Is it possible to keep a mature textilis gracilis with just 10-15 culms or so? Not sure how it mig...

Looks like you have a lovely garden Samajax. Do you have a blog or any interest sharing a pic gallery? Would love to get some inspiration for my own yard in Austin.

All of my Bambusa textilis gracilis and textilis dwarf are finally shooting. Didn't know it'd be this late.

Re: How many cups of fertilizer to add to 7 gallon plant?
Thank you so much for the thorough response - it gives me some good direction. I'm curious if others use around 2 cups of fertilizer on their adult clumping bamboo - would love to hear more responses

Re: How many cups of fertilizer to add to 7 gallon plant?
Is there a guideline anywhere as far as how much physically to sprinkle on a plant? I've searched and read everywhere and haven't found anything. Everyone follows the 'just sprinkle until it looks like the right amount rule?'

Re: How many cups of fertilizer to add to 7 gallon plant?
It depends on the type of fertilizer, the strength of it, and some other factors. What type are you using, and what are the N-P-K numbers (10-2-8 or whatever)? Thanks for the help! I have 3 different fertilizers on hand. These two are Vigoro brand which I use for my st. augustine grass: 15-5-10 29-...

How many cups of fertilizer to add to 7 gallon plant?
I've read just about all of the fertilizer threads, but I don't understand how much actual fertilize I'm suppose to sprinkle on my clumping bamboo. For example, about how many cups should I put on a 7 gallon plant that's in the ground?

Re: Help pick out my first bamboo for backyard w/ pic v. Bam
I think it's down between textillis dwarf and gracilis. I'm leaning towards doing all textilis dwarf with one gracilis in the left corner just to have one. Sometimes I just want to plant gracilis all the way across...but some of the pics I've seen of it make it seem like it can even get tall enough ...
