| Auricle | The small lobes where the blade and culm sheath are joined. |

| Blade | Especially a leaf of grass or the broad portion of a leaf as distinct from the petiole. |
| Bract | A modified leaf or leaflike part just below and protecting an inflorescence |
| Culm | The main stem of the bamboo. |
| Culm Sheath | The sheath of the culm leaf, borne singly at each node of the culm proper, below the level at which the sheaths of foliage leaves take their place |
| Internode | The section of the culm between nodes. |
| Ligule | A strap-shaped structure, a membranous or hairy appendage on the adaxial surface of a leaf, especially in grasses, at the junction between sheath and blade. |
| Node | The point on the culm where leaf attachments are located. |
| Oral Setae | The bristles attached to the auricle. |
| Pruinose | Having a whitish powder or bloom on the surface. |
| Rhizome | A horizontal underground stem with roots. |
| Sulcus | A groove or channel on the internodes. |
