Hi guys - new here - one question ref curing

Post by Oli »

Hi
I live in the UK
i have just harvested approx 60 x 3 year old plus stems from my neighbours garden.
In general they look good, clean and healthy
ive cut them down to length and now have them stored in my garage - up right
the garage is cool and dry and dark 99% of the time
its summer here so the average day temp outside is between 15c to 20c and around 10c at night

So my question is
some of the stems have started to have a v fine white powder forming on the outside
on some stems it is just forming on a few culms on others its the whole full length of the bamboo
the fine white powder brushes off easily with a cloth or by hand

What i want to know is
is this normal?
or do i need to do something?
Thank you
Oli

Welcome oli I find curing them outside works best , it’s probably mold , without being pedantic It’s not summer to the 21st 8)
