Re: melting pot
How does this species look from a distance? The photos I've seen the foliage seems quite sparse with lots of exposed culm?

Don't have an ideal background for distance shots.needmore wrote:How does this species look from a distance? The photos I've seen the foliage seems quite sparse with lots of exposed culm?
This years shoots barely visible, extend to top of picture.
Same shot cropped to show leaf density, still young…

Really nice, much better looking plant than in other photos I've seen.

I thought I was done with bamboo envy but this one has rekindled it. Weren't you supposed to put a warning in this post for me not to look?

Re: melting pot
After the rains began a dozen new shoots in the first week of fall, some of the very bright green visible below.
Yesterday brought ~4.5” of rain and wild winds and tomorrow promises even stronger winds and more rain as the remnants of Super-typhoon Songda approach.

Re: melting pot
I don't know if it is as attractive but Bamboo Garden has Fargesia jiuzhaigou II 40% off, same on Robusta Wolong, a couple of others too.

I was drawn to this form on the Kimmei site, and that image didn't show the range of colours. Crazy beautiful.
Boohoo?

Re: melting pot
Wow, the foliage is far better than I imagined. Had an idea - from mine - the foliage is small, no doubt from being in a pot too long.
This J#1 surely is the best of the Juizhaigous.
john - +14c today and a chilly ocean breeze.

late afternoon mid-summer
a few wisps of the new punctuate the status quo though full morning summer sun tends to diminish the differences

Re: melting pot
before winter arrives…
first flushes of color appear on shoots from previous post though a fall shoot stepped in front …
highlights of the difference between
bright light and sunlight in fall
