I will try to post pictures of it tomorrow. And of course if I can figure out how to get seeds people are welcome to them.
When they flower and start ripening, you can take your girlfriends nylon stockings and pull them over flowering branches. That way, the seeds will remain trapped and won't fall down to the floor. It will also protect them from birds, rodents and insects that could (certainly would) compete to get them first.

It's been a while since I grew bamboo seedlings. If possible, I'd gladly take some seeds and pay for the shipping expenses.

Good luck with seeds!

Yes this will be a first for me since I've only spent my experience with bamboo propagating it. I think I've read that seeds are ready in about two months after flowering is that correct?

Found some flowers on my Beijing also today.

My Beijing was top killed and downsized quite significantly (being grown on a raised bed). I've since relocated to a shaded place near the foundation. It looks healthy currently with only a handful of flowers. I suspect it will continue to flower next year until its dead...or will it survive?

No sign of flowers here on 'Beijing', in fact it's sending up a big new culm now. Likely it'll flower next year.

I think mine is in full flower now. The new culms are all quite weak and putting out weird looking branches, and definitely flower buds all over the place. I'll post some photos soon. Was not the best choice to replace my Ph. glauca 'Yunzhu' it seems. :(

Bad side of bamboo flowering is the plant is likely to die. But, good side is you'll have a plenty of seed, so you can grow thousands and thousands of new plants.

I'm also interested in seed, please count me in for some seeds, will pay for all shipping expenses of course.

Alan - I'd be interested in seed too. Unfortunately I have a 'Beijing' as well so will go out and check it now, likely it will flower in 2017 if not this year.

Let's hope that hardiness gene continues on the the progeny.

Another bad side is that there will not always be seed. I've had the Beijing, Kwangsiensis, and Pl juxianensis all go into full flower w/o setting any seed.

Ten or more years ago P. flexuosa set one seed here, it never sprouted. Tossed the plant but some say I shouldn't have as it came back, perhaps why the seed was non-existent or sterile????

P. propinqua 'Beijing' not looking odd here but no signs of new shoots...yet.

If it does set seeds, I'd also like to try growing the seeds. It seems the seeds are not viable. Perhaps this season...
